Hi i am in high school and i currently own the Pierre Cardin Couture Tux which my friend got for me. From what some of my more fashion oriented friends tell me, wearing normal tux pants would not work since the Pierre Cardin Tux has black stripes popping out of the fabric. What do you suggest I do? here is a link to the exact tux i own.

It's hard to tell from the ebay photos, but you should be fine to wear the pants that came with the tux.

OH that's the dilemma.... I don't have the pants that came with the tux... so would it be weird/ mismatched if i wore the cardin jacket which has textured stripes and normal tux pants cause that's my biggest fear. Or i could find a textured black on black striped tux pants which i don't know where so that's my dilemma.

You have a notch lapel jacket so it's not like getting the right pants is going to make your tuxedo look any more 'correct'

With that said, look for a pair of pants that match your jacket. They should have that stripe down the side. Check that the jacket and pants match even in different lights (i.e. camera flash)

And I don't know what you mean by black stripes coming out the jacket.

From the sound of it, your jacket has grosgrain lapels and the pants have a regular satin stripe. Don't worry about it. It's not correct and they SHOULD match, but things could be worse.

He means the jacket is a self-stripe fabric. You'll never match it, but at 25 bucks you'll be getting off cheaper than the people spending a fortune on rentals. You'll grow out of it in a year anyway probably.

So yeah, normal tux trousers aren't really correct for this jacket, but it could be much worse. Don't do it if the trousers aren't dirt cheap or you want to look your best.

Buying a coat separate from the trousers is folly. You will rarely match them and could be a laughing stock. However it is High School prom so costume is probably acceptable: Just wear them.

If all fails, just wear black. No one will be able to tell anyway.

well as i said, the jacket is made from self-striped fabric so it sorta pops up... the pants are just normal "flat" fabric with the tux stripe on the side... you think that will be okay?
