Here's something I have been wondering for a while. Why would anyone pay $200 for a D&G belt that looks just like any other leather belt, except for a really hideous "D&G" belt buckle? If I was to pay that much for a belt, I don't expect to be doing free advertising for the brand. Do people actually think it's cool to walk around with huge logos like that?

I looked at one in the store today, and from what I could judge there was no difference whatsoever between this belt and any other $30 random brand leather belt, except for the aforementioned buckle. Maybe if they payed me $200 I would wear it...

(Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, but I just have a hard time understanding the rationale behind buying such products, so please feel free to share if you are in the target audience for these kind of things).

Why not start a thread critisizing sweatpants are funerals while you're at it?

I am sorry, but I do not understand the intended meaning of that sentence. Please explain.

the other day when I was visiting my tailor (an esteemed gentlemen from the Row.. I have him flown out weekly on my Gulf) I asked him to include a new feature: stitching the price per germant in contrast sitching along the lapel/trouser leg. he seemed intrigued by the idea and inquired 'sir, would you have that in pounds or dollars?'. i stared at him for a good 3 minutes, horrified, then finally let him know his mistake: of course dollars, you dolt, whatever value is higher!

This forum isn't into D&G buckles, in fact it is the type of items that is openly despised in here. You're not likely to learn firsthand why anyone would buy them and seem to be fishing for easy approbation (who won't share your opinion on SF?). Sorta like posting about wearing innapropriate funeral wear or the sloppiness of the modern world. Everyone agrees, no one knows the market that wear those and not a single owner on the forum AFAIK.

How would I know that? I see people here reference Gucci and D&G and Ralph Lauren/Polo all the time, and they all have products with very visible branding. I wasn't fishing for anything, I'm genuinely curious as to why the phenomenon of this kind of branding is so popular, even on very expensive "high-end" products.

Note: Personally I also think stuff like the crocodile on LaCoste is also too much, I prefer no branding at all, which I'm having a hard time finding in normal stores, unfortunately.

There's no reason to be rude or sarcastic. A simple "I don't think people here buy stuff like that" would suffice. Sorry if I did not research the demographics of the forum properly before posting. My mistake, and I apologize.
