I was about to pull the trigger on a couple HF shirts on Gilt, and I noticed they are imported. Any idea where from? The only HF shirts I have seen are made in US.

That may technically be "imported" but in my experience they would not be labeled as "imported". When items are imported from the first world, Canada, Europe, Japan, the retailer proudly announces that fact. Only when the country of origin is a corrupt hell hole will the moniker "imported" be used.

I understand that Hickey Freeman/HSM closed their Canadian shirt factory so it seems that imported is going to be off the North American continent.

Well, it could be just something Gilt does. I did not buy because I wasn't sure.

I don't think he meant corrupt in that sense, but rather in the "make crappy goods and pay workers $1 week" corrupt. Anyway, he is correct, when items are shown as being "imported" it basically means that they do not come from England/Italy/US/Canada but rather from Guatemala/Micronesia/Slovakia etc.

I've purchased a few HF shirts on Gilt, the most recent of which was last week. All made in Canada.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
