Is there such a thing as a top line Hickey Suit called "Hand Tailored" that competes with Oxxford?

Yes, although it is, IMO, not entirely comparable to Oxxford. Certainly, given current prices, it is at a lower price point than Oxxford and has, I believe, less hand-work than does Oxxford. Still, they are nice garments if you like the cut and feature alot more handwork than current mainline HF garments like the Madison model.

The change in H-F garments over the years is something I have watched with interest. My first H-F, purchased in 1983, had a curtained waistband in the trousers and hand-sewn shoulder seams, button holes, collar, and sleeve heads. Over the years, most of these were eliminated from the main-line HF product. I think this has been a reflection of a strategy by H-F to aim for a price-point, whereas Oxxford has stuck to their guns as far as construction and therefore continued to show a big escalation in prices. The relative price of a H-F suit vs. Oxxford is alot lower today than it was in the early '80's. I think the 'Hand Tailored' line is an effort by H-F to offer a higher-end product as their main-line product has lost some of its hand-work. Beyond Bergdorf and N-M, and perhaps a few Saks stores, I'm not sure who sells the higher-end H-F line.
