Any advice would be appreciated. I've done a search and there doesn't seem to be a lot of information on Hickey Freeman Barrett model. Supposedly it just a slimmer model (similar to the BB Fitzgerald). I have an opportunity to get a MTM Hickey Freeman Barrett for $900. The suit is fully canvassed.

My question is whether people believe this is a good deal? How is the quality of Hickey Freeman these days? Is anybody familiar with the Barrett model? If this isn't a good deal can you point me in a direction that might be better?

Thank you

Mike

Are they going to take measurements or is it MTO? If they take measurements, then yes its a great deal at $900

I've done the HF MTM through Nordstrom and they do take measurements and then tweak it after it comes in. I think $900 is a decent deal if you like the fabrics they're offering at that price.

Yes, they would measure me. I would go to their corporate showroom (whatever that is) in NYC to get measured. I'm considering this and then MTO Samuelsohn which would cost me about $1200.

Are you intending to get more than 1 suit? If you are I'd wait for the Hickey Freeman to come back to see if you like it or not.

I really like the Barrett model and the quality is great. I think HF is often underrated on SF. I'd definitely go for it at that price.

No experience with Hickey Freeman but I have a Samuelsohn MTO and think it is a terrific suit.

I have this model off the rack and am very pleased. It's slimmer than the other models, but that goes for the jacket and the pants. I had to have the crotch let out all the way

and the waist let out an inch. But for $900 you can avoid all that and it's well below the retail price off the rack so I say go for it.

I have a couple of Barrett model suits and think they're great. Definitely a different look than the Madison or Canterbury models. The lapels, for one thing, are much slimmer and the shoulders less boxy. As an example of the difference in cut, I am a 41 in the Madison and a 42 in the Barrett. I had heard that they were discontinuing the Barrett, but perhaps they will continue to offer it as MTM. Retail for the RTW is something like $1400, so $900 for the MTM is a great deal.

Thank you for all of the replies. I am planning to get multiple suits but definitely will order one first to see how it comes out. I would also like to see some pictures if anybody has any available.

$900 a decent deal? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I love HF suits and just inquired on how much a MTM would be at their Chicago location and it's $1,830. I'd faint if I found a place to MTM fully canvassed Super 150's wool HF for $900...
