Be aware that Allen Edmonds quality control has gone downhill significantly.

Grant Stone is entirely made in China. I've read that they do get their leathers from tanneries in Europe, but when I inquired they told me many different things. They seemed shady (not wanting to tell me certain things) when I inquired about construction and finish. Common questions that other companies had no issues answering. Their leather also ages quicker from what reviewers mention.

Meermin has their shoes hand-lasted and hand-welt in China, but finished in Spain. They are transparent about this, unlike Grant Stone.

I'm sorry to hear you felt we were not transparent. Not only are our products made in China, it's somewhat our main story as the brand started there. We share some more details on the site here.

I'm happy to answer any of your questions about our leathers and the individual components. Also, most of our product pages list the article name and or tannery in the item description.

I’m not a Grant Stone customer but it says it right there where the shoes are made. I’m not sure where you’re getting the lack of transparency vibe from.

And perhaps you weren’t getting a straight answer because you were asking dumb or incoherent questions. Just a thought.

regards.

Hey, I like your shoe collection. I'd like to suggest Brown suede monks.

I went with something I can wear with chinos and trousers as I have plenty of casual shoes really.

Just tried a few outfits and they go well with tan chinos, black jeans, blue chinos and would probably go ok with a very dark blue jean as well. Should be quite versatile. I wonder if they'll go with grey wool trousers and a nice shirt. Maybe.
Suede double monks next I think!
