ok, so my (qunsas code share SQ) flight from Sidney to Singpoare was delayed, causing me to miss my onward flight to Delhi.
I land and there are 3 Singapore Airlines employees waiting for the 21 of us that are on the same connecting flight. there were other teams to meet the other connection flights.
we are told, at the gate, what the option of preference is - that we get on the next direct flight to Delhi, 18 hours later. for any of us that prefer to take a non direct flight that will get in a few hours earlier, that option is raised.
the employees have brought immigration forms for all of us, and have already procured transit visas for those of the group that can't get a visa on entry in singapore.
we then are escorted through customs and immigration and put in a taxi to a 5 star hotel (on the expense of the airline) and given vouchers for a 5 minute international call, two meals and a taxi back to the airport.
as I was flying business, I was given a suite.
that is the way an airline does business.
