ok, so my (qunsas code share SQ) flight from Sidney to Singpoare was delayed, causing me to miss my onward flight to Delhi.

I land and there are 3 Singapore Airlines employees waiting for the 21 of us that are on the same connecting flight. there were other teams to meet the other connection flights.

we are told, at the gate, what the option of preference is - that we get on the next direct flight to Delhi, 18 hours later. for any of us that prefer to take a non direct flight that will get in a few hours earlier, that option is raised.

the employees have brought immigration forms for all of us, and have already procured transit visas for those of the group that can't get a visa on entry in singapore.

we then are escorted through customs and immigration and put in a taxi to a 5 star hotel (on the expense of the airline) and given vouchers for a 5 minute international call, two meals and a taxi back to the airport.

as I was flying business, I was given a suite.


that is the way an airline does business.

Which just goes to show that you can't have everything. Which system would you rather have? an almost completely free one (merely government regulated) or one that is basically controlled by the government?

Whatever dude. One thing I know, I don't want to peruse an airline with rude, old, and ugly air hostesses. Which goes for all "free" American airlines.


Singapore Air is the best.

Actually Singapore being Singapore, you will find that they are quasi-govt owned, but very much left to their own devices to make money. Very little propping up is tolerated there, and Singapore is not big on safety nets.

Singapore Air is the best.

Cathay Pacific is reasonably well too.

oh dear god no. Old fat German women. It is like a beer hall in there. And of course the tragic irony of this is that the more expensive your ticket, the older and uglier the woman lugging your beersteins gets. Why? Cost the old bat has been with the airline for 20 yrs, been promoted all the way up to first class, banged out three kids, and because of those damn labor laws, the airline can't put her out to pasture.

I believe United must solely conduct job fairs at retirement homes. The stewerdesses are old, fat, ugly, and usually have an attitude. Everyone I've talked to overseas can't believe they would hire people of that "stature".

Singapore, on the other hand, was much better the one time I flew with them. And it was one hell of an upgrade from being stuck on a trans-Pacific United flight. Just a much better experience.

KLM also has hot chicas.

Subsidy ******, Singapore Air is partly owned by Temasek Holdings, the REAL government of Singapore. And yeah, their claim to be one of the best is true.
