After almost 6 years shopping from Herring's they still impress me. My last purchase is a pair of split toe derby (Pershore) and is beautiful. I hope they bring the black ones back (and maybe mahogany) . Be careful with sizing, maybe you will need half or a full size down .

My Pershore shoes in their maiden voyage, pictures taken at different time of the day, the colours change a lot. I hope Herrings get them in black and brown (mahogany), they are a good option in the effort to reduce the formality of a suit.

First of all, I gotta hand it to Herring Shoes. I placed an order at around 1 AM on July 24th and received the item on the 26th. Simply exquisite shipping, and the design and quality of the shoes are lovely. The colour of the suede was exactly what I was looking for.

Now, I know this has been covered a thousand times, but I recently received a pair of the Gosforth II in cigar suede, size 7.5 UK. The website says that the 026 last is true to size, but I found it to be a little bit snug and relatively short. My size is 8.5 US, so I obviously thought the 7.5 UK would be perfect. Because of how short the last is, I can only wear thin to average socks with them, or else my pinky toes start to grind against the sides. They are indeed very nice shoes, but quite short. Based on my personal experience with these shoes now, I would definitely go up half a size on this last (at least in a boot). Can a cobbler expand the leather at the location of the pinky, and how much does it usually cost? I honestly can't afford to pay return shipping for this pair and duties on a new pair. I already got hammered with $60 return shipping for another pair and $60 in duties for this one.

Stretching is possible, especially with suede. Shouldn't be more than $10.

I didn't know that. There was no indication of free return shipping for customers outside the UK, as far as I'm aware.

When I was a young country boy, braided shoes were only worn by old peasants on summer Sundays, because they were 'comfortable' and 'cool' (in the sense of 'fresh wearing'!).

This is my first purchase from Herring Shoes and I really have to commend the service. First of all, I placed my order on Sunday and got the shoes here in Italy on tuesday; then, a pot of shoe cream of the appropriate shade and a simple but nice shoe horn managed to find their way into the parcel for free; then the shoes are really good for the (discounted) price I paid!
My only caveat: Herring size chart seems half a size bigger: I usually wear a UK 10.5 and they would have me buy a UK 11.
Anyway, in the description of each shoe, they usually give specific advice on sizing and I found it reliable: about my Fano, they suggested that the shoes might run a little generous, so I went for a UK10 and they fit me perfectly.

Gosforth II in action. Great looking chukka. Short last and a bit wider than I would have liked, but it looks great with pretty much everything. The only complaint I have about them is that the leather insole is stiff as hell. I must have worn them 20+ times, but they haven't softened much. I don't know if the Loake Kempton has a different, softer insole, but the ones in the Gosforth II are simply brutal.

Much prefer the richer, deeper brown of the Gosforths vs the lighter shade the Kemptons are coming in these days. Hope they eventually break-in for you.
