Always liked many of their patterns. But never liked a tie
narrower than 3.75 in. ( 9.5 cm),except knits, so no Hermes for me.

Intrigued to see this thread. They work well for most of my formal wardrobe, and hold a nice knot. The silk they use also has a nice touch to it.

Setting aside some of the novelty ties, I like the materials and the colors are quite nice. Hermès blends their own colors and keeps all of the production in house.

A number of years ago, they had quite an interesting demo in Chicago where they brought in artisans from the workshops so that people could see how their items were made and ask questions. The scarves were obviously the star attraction but they had watchmakers, leather workers, shirt makers, tie makers, as well as others available.

It gave me a deeper appreciation for their craft and their products.

I wish many of the current patterns were available on ebay but most seem to be much older

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
