Hermes loafers on ebay - sz 10

Why, Bjorn? Those look like perfectly normal loafers to me. Perhaps you don't like loafers, or prefer a penny detailing?

Or, does it have something to do with Martha Stewart?

Martha Stewart ? I'm afraid this reference is wasted on me but I know she's not the cosy lady she likes to portray herself as. I guess it's both the color, and that they look really insubstantial bordering on looking like slippers to me. Perhaps it's the lack of detailing on them that does that but I must admit that I'm not fond of loafers in general. Take away the split toe and they become very 'slippery'

My statement was made as a contrast to kabert's remarks since I found it interesting that we, members of the board, could have such different opinions on those admittedly well made shoes. B

I like the Hermes shoes well enough, but not enough to buy them. Regarding the color, I've got several pair of shoes in the dark burgandy color, but they are all shell cordovan leather. I'm not sure what the dark burgandy would look like in calfskin. I personally think that the dark burgandy color is quite versatile. Goes nicely with blue, grey, and some browns. I think the RL Purple Label shoes in the subsequent post are more to my tastes. The penny loafer treatment does give them less of a slipper look.

Guys, Sheesh. Am I colorblind and tasteless? The color looks to be classic cordovan to me. Somewhat reddish, but it would turn a great antiqued color with some brown shoe polish. As for the style, I guess we can differ. I've got good taste, you guys don't.

Just kidding. But seriously, what do you think of these EG's? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....me=WDVW I think these are, in terms of style, quite similar. (I've got a pair of these RLPL's and they're perhaps my favorite shoe.) What to wear these Hermes's with? -- khakis and gray flannels. The basics. I wouldn't wear them to work in my fairly conservative office, but I'd certainly wear them out with the wife on Saturday night at Citronelle.

It wasn't meant as anything harsh. I simply said that Nick Foulkes would perhaps take a fancy to those.

Nick Foulkes is an English author, and a rather noted modern dandy. Who favors what one would perceive as loud colors. I.e. green pants, and jackets.
