Hermes doesnt discount merchandise, or have sales, as far as I know. So the argument that you need a reciept makes no sense. A luxury store needs to go the extra mile. The customer may be a pauper now (not saying the OP is) but one day, who knows. You cant make assumptions about people. You have to be really arrogant to tell someone that cant exchange something, especially when there are MANY 'regulars' that do just that. A refund is a different story but if all the man wanted was a different tie, then give him a different ******* tie.

**** brah, sounds like you went in there and acted like a wet noodle, go back to the store and turn over a display.

Im just saying all you guys are wrong in your assumptions that Hermes should do anything you suggest. They piss all you guys off but that doesnt matter they cater to people who have Real money not you I might be ritch someday or any of these other situations you describe.
Hermes has always had a reputation for being one of the worst customer service but your problem is your not coming in to spend any money *****!

I returned a tie with no receipt so I know it is possible. I got store credit which I have not used yet though. The money for a tie is beans compared to everything else there.

They do have sample sales at the French Institute or something like that.

Also, to repeat for the millionth time, Hermes ties are sold at retailers other than Hermes where they may very well be able to be purchased at discount.

So when someone is staying at a Four Seasons the staff should be rude to them?

What about waitstaff in a fine restaurant?

"I'm sorry sir, we reserve excellent customer service only for those purchasing first growth Bordeaux. Your order of a cru bourgeois will warrant only limited indifference."

I decided to fix it and called Prada in NYC (and yes, I was willing to pay since it definitely wasn't warranty work). They informed me that they will only repair goods (even with me paying!) bought directly from them. They referred me to a repair shop in NYC that specialized in their products and could get original parts from Prada.

They did good work, but it cost me a few hundred bucks.

as an aside, Prada small goods are of such ridiculously inferior quality that they're basically disposable.. they refuse to stand behind these goods when the wear out with regular use in a very short time period, instead offering to 'repair' them in house at a very high cost..

I've been to a Hermes sale a few years ago. It sucked. Only garbage. Anyone have good experiences with a Hermes sale?

They have a sale now and then in London (hire out a space). Was pretty useless to be honest *but* had some great men's shoes for around £220.

The boutiques themselves also have sales.

There is something about the big H that really brings out the 'passion' in shoppers, isn't there? The sample sales here a something to behold. Also, in flusher times my parents were almost trampled by overly enthusiastic customers in the Paris store - a great throng of excited buyers massed around the tie racks - they were literally clawing at the racks, grabbing anything they could get hold of w/ no thought as to color or pattern, throwing them over their free arm and then plunging back into the maelstrom to fight for more....

But were the shoes actually for normal people or was it for pro basketball players? Did they look like shoes from the 1970's or were they current? I found the sale to be full of things either not my size or not anyone's style. Only crap that I was surprised Hermes would even dare to make. It looked like a garage sale where Hermes dragged out stuff they had in the attic since the 70's.
