That would make a great album or book cover.
Excellent photo. Could be a famous detective.
Thank you guys.

@Kingstonian , I thought you were meaning Marlowe rather than Maigret, but of course the 'pipe shadow' points directly to the latter.
Though I'm not sure that Chandler or Simenon had me in mind when they wrote ...

(ex wife : "Chandler maybe, as Marlowe is a loser")

Well I thought Holmes, played by Jeremy Brett. He had hats like that and smoked the pipe too sometimes IIRC.

Jeremy Brett is said to be the greatest Holmes ever. I'm trying to track the series. There should be all the episodes somewhere.

Yes he is great.
But to me the better Holmes ever (alas only in one movie) was Peter Cushing in The hound of the Baskervilles.
I loved the Brett series I saw all the episodes of course.

They can be streamed on a couple of services, but they might be UK only.

I agree with this sentiment. Theeee best Holmes.
He was a sensibile person too.
We know that Holmes was a cocaine addict, but Brett menaced to quit with the character if producers didn't stop showing him taking drugs, as he thought this was a bad example.

I just red that Peter Cushing played Holmes a second time in a 1984 TV movie!
Thinking of it, there is a little resemblance between him and Jeremy Brett...

A less extreme hat

Wool felt and, while very cheap (22 euro), it still serves well its pourpose and prevents my thoughts from evaporating in the cold air.
