Have you had the henders in hand? I know the general advice is to size down as there's no adjustments you can make to a loafer. I'm a US 7.5 in most stuff, trying to determine if size 3 or 4 will be right for me

I did several years ago. I have narrow feet, so even though I’m prob a 12-12.5 on the Brannock, I wear 11.5 D in dress shoes, and 11 in Alden Barrie and (I think) a 12 C in the Alden Van. The HS slouchy in 6 was too small by at least a full size AFTER having them stretched.

The HS Prontos in 7 fit me fine in length and width (they’re just a bit shallow).

As to how HS scales up or down, I can’t really say.

@shopcanoeclub @peachfuzzmcgee

With your Henders have you found the footbed to break in and give more flex? I've found the heel height to be shallow and because the sole is also stiff, this results in my heel slipping out a lot. That and the leather laces constantly untying have made them an impractical wear.

@whorishconsumer yeah mine broke in really nicely and I’m just really hard on em. I know what you mean with the laces and ****. Basically you just need to break them to rid yourself of those problems. Any HS shoe is gonna be pretty tough to wear out of the box IMO

The prestos never flex, they are basically a clog. I also never had the leather laces, they always felt stiff and untied easily. Change em to the other cotton laves, I personally prefer it.

The other models do flex and break in. I have the gats and used to own the vans slip on style. Sadly the vans were too short in the same size so I sold em.

Pulled the trigger on the slouchy, the brown ones. I actually fell in love with the black ones first, but think the brown will be the one that will fit the purpose better for the fits that I want to work that with. Got a pretty good deal, brand new $270 shipped from Korea. Just hoping size works out,

You have an asian feet size, I wouldn't be surprised if you could find those shoes on rakuten for even cheaper if you wanted to, just in case you love the show but it don't fit.

I wonder what would happen if I were to wade in the Pacific whilst wearing my Henders. Would I achieve the optimum of distressed patination?

slouchy came in, in a nice little box. Super happy with the fit, a bit snug which is what I wanted. I'm in love!

Also, as a noob in shoes approaching any hint of formalness, especially leather shoes, any pointers on keeping these mint will be appreciated. Should I get them reinforced soles? any leather treatments? or should I just wear it and just embrace the wear and tear as it's already got a worn look?

Loafers and especially loafers like this are generally not considered formal. Hell I have super formal alden LHS and ****** wears them with ratty vintage stuff. I would just do it up. do whatever you feel.

coming from years of sneakers and jandals these feel plenty formal to me! but obviously not actual 'formal' as described in menswear
