Hemming jeans...

I had a pair of Ralph Lauren RRL jeans hemmed at a local tailor that was recommended to me. He maintained the original hem (original hem service)...

He did a good job, but there is extra material underneath the cuff. It's a medium weight denim and the bottom of the jeans don't drape as well with all that extra material underneath. I googled this hemming technique and most of the extra material is usually cut out. These are pre-distressed jeans and thought that the original hem service would be the way to go. I guess these jeans are f'ed up, although they are still wearable. Next time I am just going to do the chain stitch hemming service (cut off the original hem and put a new hem on). Please share your thoughts. Thanks!

that just looks weird and unnecessary. send them to abfits.com, blue owl workshop or railcarfinegoods and have them done correctly.

I did contact railcarfinegoods. If they were to hem those they would need to cut off the original hem and put a new hem on it. This will also make it shorter which I am not sure there is room to go shorter. Oh well. Could be worse I guess. I have a new pair of RRL jeans on the way and will be taking them to Norman Porter in Philly for a chain stitch hem.
