Hi guys...I am not sure how this works because I am new here, so please pardon me if I say/type/do something wrong.
I am new in classic menswear but I fell in love with it reading some of the articles here as well as watching some Youtube classic menswear videos. I went to the store yesterday to buy my first semi formal suit, and I think I found one which really suits me (when alteration tailor shortens the trousers)...But, I have problems with shoes and belt, as well as with shirt. Can you please give me some of your suggestions here? Thanks in advance guys

Sorry bud, but that suit needs work. The rise is too low on the trousers and the jacket is too short. Lapel is very skinny as well.

Keep reading the forum to get some good ideas. The WAYWT thread is a good start.

And good luck on your journey. We've all started somewhere (including paying full price for a Hugo Boss suit!).

Thanks man, I really appreciate it...If it weren't for you, I 'd probably splashed half of my monthly salary on something that does not suit me...Thanks again

So, that suit is probably not going to get good feedback around here. It's a very, very fashion-forward suit that has been popular for some years now:

- Too short
- Trousers cut too tight, with a too low rise - looks like skinny chinos.
- Skinny lapels

etc.

Posters here tend to favor more classic styled suits. I.e fuller cut trousers with higher rise, meatier lapels, etc.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
