Is there a way to turn off the 'feature' that automatically subscribes you to a thread you have posted in? I have looked all over the User CP but did not find anything obvious.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it is quite annoying....

Yes, there is. Go to User CP, then Edit Options on the left menu bar. The second box in Messaging and Notification is your subscriptions, just change it there.

That should do it.
