On a limited budget, need something mainly for interviews. I've been reading around and people suggest Zara or H&M for lower end slim suits. I went to Zara today and tried the 38R/40R and both had too narrow shoulders for me, and the quality was pretty bad.

Next I went to express and quickly tried on one of their gray suits. It's snug around the chest but seems fine, The sleeves are a little long; the 40R seems to be too large in the chest.

Edit: updated on page 2

The fit is okay for a cheap OTR suit, but it looks kinda cheap and personally I wouldn't pay that kind of price for a wool/synthetic blend. Even with those discounts you could probably do better getting something from B&S.

Agreed. Also, I would look for a darker shade of gray (or navy) for interviews.

Express suits are way too boxy and have low armholes (that's bad). I'd recommend you find something on the buy&sell forum here or on ebay.

Pretty dire - makes you look like 10 cents at best.

You could do a lot worse. Find one in a darker color.

The suit looks too shiny for an interview. I'd go darker (charcoal, navy).

The J Crew is nice but too trendy for interviews. Look at thos ultra slim lapels, for example. The express is ok. It seems like the length of the jacket is right, but the chest/shoulders are too roomy. I would try on a size down, possibly going for the "long" version if it makes the length shorter.

I would also get a darker grey/charcoal or a navy blue. It's too light for interviews. Also make sure you don't get a shiny material.

OP, what industry and what level? That would play a role in making any recommendations.

@Metlin. The creative industry; image production specialist and the like. I ended up getting a great deal on a calvin klein 100% wool body suit, dropped to $143 from $550. Macy's was having a sale and then gave me an additional 35% off. I think the color is spot on. http://www1.macys.com/catalog/produc...3D1%26spc%3D18 I should get it in the mail next week, had to order it from another store because they didn't have the charcoal in my size. Happy about the purchase despite the fact Macy's charged me twice, which I'm still trying to work out..
