I was thinking of bidding on this suit:

thttp://cgi.ebay.com/2725-Hand-Made-BELVEST-Suit-HERMES-NWT-42-44-Louis_W0QQitemZ7771207884QQcategoryZ3001QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Do you think I could have this tailored to a 42 Reg. I noticed it was 33 inches from top to bottom which is a bit long. I actually have a 42R Canali that is 33 inches and it seems fine. I am digging the suit!

Is it this one?

If so, as 54, I'd expect it to fit pretty close to a 42R already.

That is the suit. I need a nice glen plaid to "fill In" a hole. I also wanted a plain front pant as I prefer them since my wife reminds me I have no a$$ so the plain front fits me much better than pants with pleats. I thought 54 was 44. Well I may have to pull the trigger!

e54 is US 42.6. I would worry a bit here as my experience is that a 47 inch chest is a true 44 or close to a e56.

But Belvest unaltered ought to fit your 42R US body pretty well.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
