I'm considering having a single button, peaked lapel black tuxedo MTM. Two questions: 1. What cloth would folks recommend? 2. What are the things I should specify/look for in the way of construction/details on the tuxedo? Any and all thoughts appreciated.

Hhhhhmmmmm, I had a Zegna done... I'd say that I wanted it to have a single button and peaked lapels, and you've got it covered... Other than that I wanted what any good suit should have...

One thing I would have done different is I would have replaced the satin stripe on the pants with a braided one so it'd look better with my tails...

As for cloth I went for super 140's as it looked good and draped well without having a shiny sheen to it under lights... I stuck with black too as I've never seen one in another color that didn't look a bit off to me, (including midnight blue).

Personal preference once you get past the basics.

I did midnight blue with some mohair, and I'm happy that I did; along with grosgrain facings and a vest. My lapels are a tad wide, but it isn't a big thing (no pun intended).
