And before I begin, yes I did do a search.

Here's the story. I did my research on jeans. Bought Levi 527 low-rise bootcut with a dark wash. Made sure everything fit well and bought the jeans.

My problem: When I bought the jeans I could only fit my index and middle finger between the fabric and my jeans, now they've become so baggy I can put 4 fingers inbetween it's ridiculous. I don't want baggy jeans, I want a nice fit.

When I'm shopping in the future how do I account for the stretching? People say they will shrink back to normal after washing, but in my experience is that they'll just stretch out again. And I don't want to ruin the wash of the jeans by cleaning them every other day.

Help please! (and if this is a stupid question be easy on me, I'm trying to learn this stuff

^^^ adding: 3. Size down so they are snug when you first buy them (no room for fingers etc). Most Levis will stretch at least 1 size in the waist
