Can someone suggest somewhere other than eBay to sell a pair of Alden Plain Toe Blucher? I bought a pair from endclothing.co.uk on November 1st for £489 ($800), wore them for a couple of weeks & then realised they weren't the same as the ones I wanted (which I'd seen on Need Supply).

As my boss was going to San Francisco for a conference, I asked her to bring me back the pair from Need Supply & thought that I'd be able to sell the original pair as 'like new' but for one reason or another, I haven't been successful (even selling them at a £100 loss).

I appreciate that not everyone will consider buying second-hand shoes but given the reputation of Alden, I'm surprised they haven't been snapped up.

The problem is that you purchased the shoes at way too high of a price originally. You purchased chromexcel plain toe bluchers, which retail for under $500 in the US (the model you actually wanted costs $486); you purchased them new for ~$782, so your shoes were originally about $300 higher than the standard US price. In addition, you purchased chromexcel leather instead of cordovan leather. Chomexcel is great leather, but chromexcel shoes do not hold their value as well as cordovan shoes. If your shoes have been worn for a couple of weeks and have been maintained well, they will likely fetch $250 to $300 used, which obviously a big loss for you.

Moral is try not to buy from End Clothing as their prices are inflated. If you must, make sure you know will like what you will buy.

the problem is not where you are selling them, but your asking price is way too high
people could buy a brand new pair for way below your asking price

given that you paid way too much originally, and are probably not willing to heavily discount them, i would just keep them
