I was looking at my light grey wool coat the other day and I noticed the elbow areas are lighter than the rest of the coat. Noticeable? Sort of.

Am I able to dye my coat back to its original color? The coat was $350 so it's relatively inexpensive, however, it is my favorite coat and I've had it for quite awhile. Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Cheers

Probably not. But that kind of wear is exactly what elbow patches were designed for.

+1 for elbow patches.

I remember reading about a sport jacket purchased from either Loro Piana or Hermes which came with contrasting patches intended to be retained for years until the elbows wore through enough to warrant patching.

Some RTW companies are getting a little too excited about elbow patches in my opinion (ahem Brunello), but actually having worn the elbows to the point where they are fading or forming holes is the perfect justification for you to sport a pair.
