Looking for some input on my next pair of shoes. I'm looking to pick up a pair of brown oxfords to be worn with suits. Right now I have a black cap toe, dark brown suede Connaught (C&J), and Ralph Lauren Darlton brown cordovan wingtips. My suits are a range of grey (charcoal, charcoal with pinstripes, light gray, and mid-grey) with one navy as well. I'm trying to decide between the:

1) C&J Audleys (dark brown) - love the color, but am thinking the plain cap toe may become a bit boring.

2) C&J Clifton (tan) - I think these look great on the rack but am unsure of it will go with my suits, and I am still new enough here that I tend To dress a bit on the conservative side, with my shoes darker than my suits.

3) C&J Westfields (dark brown) - less formal than the Audleys, but maybe too much overlap with the Darltons?

4) C&J Belgrave (chestnut) - nice mix between formal and informal but I'm not sure that the color is as versatile as the dark brown.

Thanks, all, for any input.

I like both the Audley and Clifford with a slight edge given to Clifford given that its color is not in your current lineup. And I think tan shoes will look good with your lighter grey suits in warmer weather.

For basic, C&J Audley in brown if you don't already have a captoe.

How do you feel about spending money on non-essential goods during the Covid-19 crisis?

  • I don't want to spend money at a time of economic uncertainty, even if I could afford it.

  • I feel compelled to spend to help small businesses that are struggling.

  • I reduced my budget for non-essential goods and I'm not spending at the moment.

  • Not much has changed for me and I'm still buying stuff I can't afford.
