Hi guys, I found SF in a google search about two weeks ago and have been reading lots ever since. I am amazed at the knowledge of forum members.

I have always had an interest in fashion, however mainly on the accessories side. I worked part time for a while at a jewellery store to get the discount and amassed quite a collection I am proud of. I have always been interested in formal wear, as far back as grade school I have had suits, and am getting married in august so bought a calvin klein suit for my wedding.

Going shopping the suit was such an improvement over what I have now that I am looking to grow my knowledge and look. What I am looking for is a noob guide into the group. You guys have so much more knowledge (it is very apparent) and I am having a hard time following some of the threads.

For work I am a contractor to a utility here in alberta, coming in full suit and tie is not appropriate although if I go into town for meetings I can get away with it. I am a project manager for the operations group so my field guys may look at me a little funny.

Hopefully will be learning a lot in this section and hope to eventually contribute. Any words of advice for a new young guy? Hopefully this could help all new people joining the forum answer some basic questions.

Cos

Mods: if this is the wrong section im sorry i didn't see an intro section.

Lol not that kind of contractor. A consultant? Meaning I don't work for my client I am my own company and provide services to them at a inflated fee?

I can't really show up with my hublot and a 2k suit when most people are civil service employees.

Suggest you look at the Casual Business Dress Thread that is stickied. Sounds like that is exactly what you are looking for.

First off, formal wear is probably not what you think it is.

There's no shortage of information here. Check out the What are you wearing... thread for ideas.

Thanks I find that people on here are much smarter than the average bear so I have a hard time following a lot of the discussions. I liked the spring thread.

Yeah sorry formal wear isn't really the right term, more meant higher end suits and sport coats. I have been reading a lot and already learned a lot. Hardest thing I have found so far is the common do's and dont's, colours, etc.
