Help! My navy BB suit makes me look like a preacher

This is my first post. Hi everyone! I hadn't bought a suit for about 10 years until recently. And now I think I made a mistake. I'm 29 years old, very tall with a relatively slim build (46 extra-long, pants 36x36). A couple months ago I got a 2-button navy BrooksEase suit with pleated pants. Because I'm so tall the suit's features are very spread out, making the overall look of the suit very minimalistic. That, combined with the cut I chose, and the fact that all my shirts are either white or off-white, makes me look like nothing other than a preacher when I wear it. I wish I'd found this forum beforehand. I'd have at least gotten a 3-button suit with flat-front pants, and I would have something contemporary. But what's done is done. What can I do to salvage the situation, so I have an outfit I feel comfortable in without buying a new suit? -Josh

maybe go one size smaller? Your build, with the right fit, should make you look very good. Sadly, with most American RTW, everyone is assumed short and fat or tall and very fat, with broad shoulders. Maybe MTM is the way to go. I think the shirt is fine, but it's better with different color.

I wear only three button suits but two button suits have been popular since JFK was in office. You can make it look less austere with a colored shirt. I have probably 5 or 6 blue shirts in both solids and stripes for every white shirt I have. A tie, unless you are opposed to them, and a pocket square would help too.

Cheers, Jim.

I think your only option is spicing up your outfit with your shirt tie and pocket square. I'd also invest in some nice brown shoes that would also put a modern edge to your outfit.

If the suit fits well, then I think you have something to work with to make it a great look. Your choice of tie, shirt, pocket square and shoes will make a huge difference.

Given the versatility of navy, you most likely made a good decision in the color and style of suit.

Come to think of it, we haven't seen your Sunday Best in a while! It's a whole new concept in religion-people won't miss church on Sundays because they don't want to miss the pastor's amazing outfits!

Well, if there's enough fabric, have the cuffs made to be 1.75", put on a tie (it's a suit after all), a pocket square, have BB make the cuff buttons working for $12/button, and Bob's your uncle.

Get a haircut and make sure they use thinning shears.

It's not the suit it's the shirt, try wearing a bolder color like pink or purple or blue. a nice dark bold color and a striped tie with assorted color to match the shirt.

I thought it was the other way around? And also of course it relates to your height. Shorter guys want 2 buttons to stretch out their upper body.
