A US national survey (2007) showed that there were more men with Binge Eating Disorder than women with Anorexia Nervosa or Bulimia Nervosa. Also, in 2009 the National Center for Eating Disorders released a report revealing that 50% of children with Anorexia were boys. Eating disorders are terrible and stigmatizing for women - and even worse for men - since they are still typically thought of as "female" disorders. Therefore, men who develop eating disorders end up suffering in silence either because they are too afraid, or too embarrassed to seek help.
