Argh, I just purchased Miami Vice, starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, from Fry's. I am usually a fan of Michael Mann, but this movie has completely broken my confidence in him. It's such a bad movie and so sloppily produced, I'd like to return it for a full refund.

The problem is, according to the receipt, I can only exchange this item for another copy since it's already open. However, I can return it if it's unopened. Aside from the plastic shrinkwrap jacket, it can pass as unopened. I even put the white sticker label with the title on the top. I'm thinking of using Saranwrap and a hair-dryer, maybe use my lighter to seal up the edges.

Anybody have some tips?

Hahah... no, that won't work. It's not the same kind of shrinkwrap.

Cheap bastard, why dont you just sell it on ebay/pawn shop and then buy a movie you will enjoy.

PS you can buy shrink wrap little baggies that are heat to shrink. Its not worth the effort for a $15 movie though.

Put it in a zip lock bag. They won't notice the difference.

I told you Michael Mann just makes trash. I don't see why you even like Heat so much.

Blasphemy...Heat was great. I won't call it a classic but it was really well done. I haven't seen Miami Vice, but the Original poster should just trade the DVD for another with a friend.

I considered eBay, but I'll only recover maybe $5.

On advice from a friend, I went to the local community college's music building and asked around. I was eventually pointed to a room where, lo and behold, there was film and a special sort of heating machine that seals. Apparently, they use these things to seal up music CD's and DVD's of their concerts and plays, etc. I successfully rewrapped the DVD (and actually did a much better job than the DVD's own distributor, I might add) and will return it tomorrow. I'll keep you updated if anybody's retained interest.

lol Seems like a lot of effort for a 15$ movie man. You kind of remind me of my roomate in college who would ask the waiter to wrap up the bread at the table when we were getting ready to leave.

MrR

If $$ is that tight I recommend you sneak into threatres to make sure you like a movie first before buying it.
