Help Me With My New TV

I'm having a 3D HD plasma delivered at the end of the week and I don't want to upgrade my DVR until I get the TV. Since there's going to be some lag time, I'm wondering if I can connect my standard (non HD) DVR to the new TV without hurting anything, and if so, can I use the existing cables?

I was going to ask the sales guy this but he was trying to upsell me big time and I had a feeling he'd have told me that it wouldn't work regardless (he was pretty annoyed when I told him I was going to get my HDMI cables elsewhere).

Thanks in advance.

Yup just plug the existing cables (probably composite/analog Yellow/Red/White cables) into the Video inputs of the new TV.

Play with the aspect ratio mode to one that you like (zoom, stretch, native, etc.). Stretch modes may be preferable to avoid any potential (but very unlikely, with new screens) burn-in. You will have to suffer with ugly & distorted, or chopped off video for the time being though (although seeing how TV's in-store and in sports bars are setup, most people don't notice).

You may need a cablecard for the DVR to work if it's not from your cable provider.
