Got a big formal coming up and need some help. Not that it will matter on fit but im 6'7" 260 with an athletic build.

I have looked at buying one rather then renting, (forced to rent in the past due to time constraints, looked terrible). I wanted to know your opinions on a few things i have found.
Shawl collars?
One, two or three buttons?
1 vent, 2 vent or no vent?
I found these online, any opinions?

1. The D&G tux being sold by shopdesigner611 on here #4
2. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
3. Fendi 3 button for sale on here by feenial

Any help is appreciated, let me know what you guys think.

Also, what about these for shoes?

The notch lapel will be frowned upon.

It will be way too short on you.

I am assuming that the tux you linked to is your size? If so, then I cannot make the offer I was going to. I have what I believe is the classic tux that I am getting ready to part with: NWT Kiton SB, 1B, Peak Lapels, unvented black tux. It is a 44R, so it obviously won't work for you. Nonetheless, a SB, 1B, Peak Lapels, unvented tux is classic and what I would go with.

It seems to be a brand thing i guess, because I have a Hickey Freeman suit that's a 48r, and i fits me perfectly, as well as a Burberry 48r, also fits fine.

No vent.
Okay

The notch lapel will be frowned upon.
Why is that?

It will be way too short on you.
Because of the brand, like i said i have a freeman that fits perfectly

Two buttons too many.

No. No. No.

Why? I thought they looked pretty good, any suggestions?

+1 even though I like side vents (I know it is not correct, but the look is good)

I too think side vents are acceptable, at least on a shawl collar tux as it has a less formal pedigree than the peak lapel. If going peak would probably endevour to get it non-vented though.

As for the shoes... look at that price, and compare with other shoes around the same (or a lot less) and you'll see that you can get much nicer ones. The overall idea is alright with those, but the lack of heel, presence of stud-like grip, as well as the fact that that eBay page makes it quite apparent that the seller has no idea what they're talking about would certainly prevent me from buying those.

One button is traditional for tuxedos. Two buttons is common for regular suits. The point of wearing a tuxedo is that it should not look the same as an ordinary suit.

Again because the tuxedo should not look just like a regular suit. Notch lapel is the common lapel for an ordinary suit, so your tuxedo should not have a notch lapel.

I also recommend http://www.blacktieguide.com/

I mean custom is always nice, I am not really looking to spend that much cash on a Tuxedo. I mean I want better than my rental last year but I cant afford to spend as much as a good custom would cost.

Some say that a tuxedo should be your finest item.....I tend to agree with that but it doesn't mean you have to go custom to get it. Something that ticks the boxes for correct details with expert tailoring will be fine, and it should last you a long time if you keep the same basic shape and weight for the next 10-15 years.

You are at a slight disadvantage due to your height, but something can still be found, I guess the best question is how much are you willing to spend?

Beyond that, read the blacktie guide linked on here, but the classic features are always going to be the best and when you look back a photo of you in the tuxedo, you shouldn't be able to date it because it was an Oscar costume, and you should look like a timeless gentleman.

Go one button, black or midnight blue, shawl or peak lapel, get a self tie bow tie of the same material as the lap facings, and invest in a cummerbund that matches the tie and lapel facings. For shoes look for classic Opera pumps or a balmoral lace up with in a highly polished calf or patent leather. White French cuff shirt, with either a covered placket or shirt studs.

Literally, one of the best question responses I have had in a long time. Any brand you would suggest? I am not sure how much exactly, definitely under $1k (for just the tux) but I can generally find deals once I know what im looking for.
