I've admired your collection in the past. There are a few I could do without, but I think you'd regret selling the majority of them.

I'm with the consensus here; the utility of the money gained from selling the shoes is far less than the amount you initially paid for them, and the cost of shipping them all to your new grad school location.

Eventually, you'll be buying them again, so unless you're displeased with some of them then I really do not see the point of breaking it up.

The Nettletons (both) and the white Florsheims are my favorites.

Yeah, I agree. I'd definitely keep those.

I'd keep the last three for sure.

Various made by Crockett & Jones:
Polo Pebble Grain Double Leather, CJ Connaught, Polo Belgrave brown, Polo Belgrave black
Polo Darlton Shell PTB, Polo Darlton Shell wing, CJ Mortimer for Ben Silver, Brooks Peal wholecut
crocketts.jpg
Darlton shell wing is a keeper.

Italiana including Paul Smith:
Borgioli, Borgioli, PS Starr, PS Starr, PS Chen, PS Canada
italiana.jpg
Could let these go.

other English:
Brooks Peal Sargent Wholecut, Brooks Peal Sargent wing, Lands End Gibson, EG Geiger Sandringham

The LE Gibson looks nice there. It was a good value, especially at the absurd clearance price some SFers snagged them at.

boots of all makes:
CJ Cottesmore, Lands End Chukka, Grenson Chukka, Brooks Peal CJ Chukka, Paul Smith Sundance, Trickers Stow, Red Wing 9011

I'd keep the first and third chukkas and probably the Stow. The Red Wing is a nice boot too.

You have a nice collection, Tarmac. Shame to see them go.

Depends on what you expect to wear and where you will be living.

For sure, do not dispose of the shoes. Find a way to store them.

Great list gdl, but I'd swap the Polo cordovan PTB for the Mortimer. Don't care for the latter.

Keep them all.
I certainly would.
Or store them at your parents home.

This is a wonderful collection of shoes.
It would be foolish to get rid of any.

From the CJ get rid of pebble grain double sole and suede connaught (2 pairs)

That is 19 pairs gone. I could add another to make 20 if you want (Lands End Gibson).

Sorted.

By the way, you are younger than the avatar suggests. Unless you are the perpetual student type.

All ot the above but keep the Starrs

Nice collection, Tarmac. I enjoyed looking it over again this morning.

Assuming "graduate school on the east coast" means buttondowns & sweaters & denim mainly, & in the northeast where there are so many schools and a lot of bad weather, this is what I would take: the tan 911s, the Nettleton shell PTB, the Pebble Grain double sole bluchers, and three pairs of the non-suede boots. And maybe a pair of the Belgraves for use with the occasional sports coats & ties. I might add one of the monks if I wanted my shoe style to be conspicuous.

A lot of the light-colored shoes will not be of much use in the northeast during the academic year. And the suede is too delicate. School rarely means a car-to-office-to-car-to-home lifestyle, so you will want durable shoes that you can wear all day with a lot of outdoor walking between stops at classes, libraries, events, etc.

Interesting because that monk is my favorite shoe of his entire collection - buckle is elegant, last is versatile, color is great - it's pure pr0n
