I really really need a pair of sneakers. Right now, pretty much all I wear are brown leather eccos, which are pretty nice, but I need some variety.

I'm looking for a relaxed, cool pair of sneakers (not running shoes like Nike's), and I was wondering what you guys thought. I'm thinking something like:

Onitsuka Tiger's, Jack purcells, Sambas, or Pumas. What do you guys think of these brands? I usually wear light blue jeans with either tshirts or button downs. What colors go well with light blue jeans?

Here's what I've looked at so far:

Thanks!

For sneakers, I dig Vans a lot... particularly the slipons and the No Skool design. I'm biased, though, because I have wide feet (usually an E) and Vans are great for that so long as I just size up one. I'm not really a big fan of Converses, though lots of people seem to be, and I really like Puma's "The Suede" sneaker but I tried the 13 and it was just too narrow in the middle for me. Obviously, noone carries 14s, because I am a freakish mutant. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7213526/c/65474.html (the solid color ones look solid, no pun intended, though some of the pattern ones are very nice--including, surprisingly, the plaid) http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7173452/c/39608.html

I don't like Vans too much since I have really narrow feet. does anyone know if it's true that you shouldn't wear white sneakers in winter?

It's a little jarring to be sure (and I try to avoid it), but you can pull off white sneaks in winter if need be.

FWIW the Sartorialist is claiming that white shoes in winter are quite popular in London and Paris as of late. I only own white sneakers and they get considerable wear during sloppy Seattle winters but I like the look of a dirty white casual and hate to ruin my leather shoes in the rain. On the original post, I suggest the Purcells (...white Purcells). SpringCourt and Tretorn are also excellent choices, classic and timeless...natch!

hey guys. thanks alot for your replies so far. I was also wondering what color combos you guys think look good, if I decide to not go for white. I usually wear light blue jeans, so what goes well with those. Also, if I decide to invest in some nice darker jeans what works well with those. On another note, what works well with cords or khakis. Thanks again and post if you have any other ideas that you think I could try out.

Shoes that I like right now: Samba '85s. I got the these a few months ago in the black/white/blue. http://www.zappos.com/n/bs?q=samba+85 John Varvatos Jack Pucells. My girlfriend got me the slip-ons in olive for Christmas. For people as OCD as me, the slip-ons are indeed a touch darker than the lace ups as shown in the pictures (I thought it was just lighting). I think the darker better looks better with my RRDS but I want laces so I will be "de-stiching" the slip ons and putting in laces. The only difference between the slip-on and lace-ups besides the slight color difference is the slip-on has about 2 inches of stitching (which I will remove) to PREVENT you from using laces and has elastic to keep the tongue in place. http://www.zappos.com/n/es/d/722236785/page/1.html Marc Jacob Prison Vans. I found these a couple of weeks ago from another SF post. I like the velcro on the prisons so I'm thinking about buying them in black. Someone just posted a bunch of them on ebay for <$90. http://www.sneakerfreaker.com/article.php?id=783 (scroll down)
