I have decided to give C & J a try for my next shoe, but having never seen them in person I am not sure which one to try first. What I *need* to fill a gap in my shoe closet is a dark brown or brown shoe for suit wear to fill out my shoe wardrobe.

Also any recommendations on sizing? I am a 10.5C or 10.5D in a US shoes.

The choices:

Handgrades:

Bosell - Last 337

Audley - Last 337

OXfords:

Hallam - Last 348

Westfield - 348 (this on is my favorite, but I am a sucker for brogueing)

I am also open to suggestions.

Hav eyou considered the Weymouth? It is a dark brown whole cut with discreet scroll work at the toes. Very elegant and goes nicely with a suit.

I'm expecting a pair of Belgraves this week (hopefully) and I'm about your size - will advise.

From the 3 that you posted, I would go with the Westfield as well.

Out of these 3, Hallam by a wide margin. 341 is not an elegant last IMO and the blucher is not a good shoe to wear with a suit

I like the 348, the 337 and the 341 all very well. I think of the three, I slightly prefer the 337 and, as such, I'd consider the Belgrave. I notice that you only included dark brown shoes, and the Belgrave is chestnut, so that may rule it out for you.

If you're sticking with dark brown, you should also look at the Drummond and Westbourne on the 348. I love the Westfield, too. I've been considering it in polo suede for a while now. You might also consider that the 341 last is likely to be more timeless than the 348. I don't find the 341 bulbous at all - it's a very elegant round toe.

If you're more a 10.5C US than a 10.5D then 9.5E in the 348s might fit better as I understand its a narrower last . . .
