The shell Beaulieu is a grail shoe for me. Very nice.

My Vass oxbloods are very, very, dark. They look almost black. That may help your decision-making.

BTW, you've made an excellent choice but I'd reconsider your double to single sole. I think that the single sole would look best on the shoe that you are contemplating. Either way is a good choice.

There might be one point of improvement left in that nearly perfect shoe...

Thanks boys and girls...I've paid kolecho for the Vass Italian-Oxfords with a punched captoe and medallion deletion, but asked to have time to decide a couple of things.

First, the color: Dark brown is nice, but seems to be a little boring. Oxblood looks like it has more depth, but I don't know if it's too red-dark. Kolecho suggests dark brown (like brax, he mentioned that the oxbloods are very dark), so I'll likely settle on dark brown.

Second the sole: I felt like the double to single would look fine but vox suggested getting it trimmed closer and brax suggested a single sole. It seems as if a double to single sole would look fine on the F last (?). I'm leaning towards vox's suggestion and if I make a mistake, it was a mistake I made and that's part of the MTO fun.

Also, I signed up on this forum to research my first pair of decent shoes (Allen Edmonds McClain) which I bought on eBay for less than $100. Less than a year later, I'm buying a nearly $800 pair of MTO shoes. There is something that is either delightfully civil or terribly wrong with all of us.

EDIT: Finalized on the double to single, non-trimmed, and dark brown calf...should be here in April.
