Help me pick a summer shoe

I am in the market for a "summer shoe" that I can start pairing with lighter colored trousers for a more warm weather look. Right now I only have a pair of black shoes (AE McCallisters) and brown (AE Vernon).
I have been looking at the Herring Shoes website and found two pairs that I like.

Pair #1http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&colset=1&styleid=1374&shoeid=5107&brandid=7&catid=23&oldcolid=2632&stype=0&colourid=2633

Pair #2http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info.php?&brandid=6&shoeid=2396

My first question is in regards to these two brands; Herring and Loake. The prices seem reasonable but are they solid quality shoes?
Also, any recommendations for something in the same price range would be appreciated.
I was also thinking of a light tan loafer as well.

Loake is the AE of UK. Quality is similar for an entry-level GY welted shoe. Pair #2 is made by Cheaney, a step-up from Loake but also the price reflects this.

Are you familiar with the sizing of either? Both of my AE are 8E and they fit great. I do know that AE runs a little narrow though.
From the website it seems like any returns would be a PIA and potentially costly so I would like to avoid that if possible.

Loake are pretty bad quality since their leather are very stiff, I got a pair of 1880 and frankly not comfy

I disagree, I've got myself a pair of Loake Royal Longwings and while the quality isn't exactly EG, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with their price:quality and they're pretty comfy. Might just be some models or perhaps the sizing.

I'd say if you're going for some coloured suede brogues check out Mark McNairy's stuff - from what I've seen/heard it's all pretty good and they're soled on Dainite, my personal favourite for versatility

And I've got a pair of Herring's double monks - the Shakespeare II - and I can't fault the quality at all so if you're buying Herring the quality will be pretty good.
