These guys are looking for workers not projects

We have a guy at my job... IDK why he hasn't been fired yet. Dude takes naps in his boss' office when she's not here, he works standing up (and directly faces my desk + makes everyone in his proximity generally uncomfortable) and is just a bit off. Sucks cause I guess dude is a good worker, but he's awkward as hell, to the point that you don't wanna be around him

I think you were being hard on someone who appears, from your description, to be a little different, a little eccentric. You also strike me as someone incapable to telling him that you did not approve of his conduct so far. God knows how the hell you are the manager there....well, maybe that's why the place is bleeding money (it is, if I understood this thread correctly)....Maybe he recognized you immediately as a wimp and walked all over you.

But no one deserves to be fired on Day 3. That's unheard of. They invented labor laws over the past 200 years to prevent that kind of behavior.

You should fire yourself for being so incompetent as to have hired this guy in the first place. You can whine and excuse yourself--"he was sent over to me". Well go and kiss the hand of the people who thought you enough of a fucknut to unload their problem onto you.

You hired him. Forced, or otherwise. It was a wrong decision. Fire yourself, or somehow discipline yourself otherwise. But you don't fire someone on Day 3. That is morally wrong. I am not saying it doesn't exist. I'm just saying it's wrong.

What goes around comes around. You have been warned. It's not too late.

How can you possibly justify this attitude?

I know this isn't a tell your worst story thread, but I think the OP was pretty level about it. I've fired someone after less than a week, several years and several jobs ago. Person lied on his resume about his job skills, lied about his ability to work certain hours, and had a total personality change once hired. Uncooperative, disrespectiful of supervisors, refused to follow virtually any company policies (like electronic filing, so screwed up weeks worth of project files his second day because "that's not how I learned the program and you're doing it wrong", and was in general the most insubordinate and uncooperative person with whom I've ever worked.

Started work on Monday, left on Thursday. I've never lost one second of sleep over it, especially since I found later that he did the same thing at two more firms over the next couple of months, and was just as quickly shown the door in both cases. Some people are just too hard-headed to be dealt with. We had to go find the f*cker in the parking lot, walking around on his second smoke break for the day at 11 AM and talking on his phone on personal stuff, to fire him.

My experience has been that in pretty much every case, allowing bad behavior to continue while you try to cover your ass by documenting it or whatever never works in the employer's favor. It's best to just cut it off right away rather than let it go on. Get it over with.

OP did the right thing for his business, and seems to have done so in a reasonable manner.

How hard is caps and punctuation... seriously? I know you're "just posting on a forum," but it makes it infinitely easier to read/understand if you'll take the effort to provide SOME hint of attention to detail.

Peoples' brains need pauses, closures, beginnings and endings. Just an endless string of letters gives one a headache.

+1. Get off of the OP. He didn't enjoy having to do it. Sometimes things just dont work out.

nice to know it ended well.

or did it?

did his smile seemed a bit askew?

when you went to bed last night, did you wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of the lambs?

did you think now that he's out of your life, you won't hear the screaming don't you?

are you at peace?

Well, I'm glad you did it sooner, rather than later. No sense in delaying the inevitable.

Couldn't leave the incense alone, eh? Very sad story.

You know what is the right thing to do. You made a mistake. That is OK, we all do. You are lucky though...you can easily fix your mistake. You know what to do.

You probably won't sleep tonight. That is good. It means you have a conscience and a heart. You can fix your mistake. Be a man. Put things to right.

Nice to meet you too...have a good day.

You are a ******* nutjob.
