So I'm giving a cello concert, which means that I can wear whatever the hell I want as long as it's not casual.

I have the bowtie: http://www.us.thomaspink.com/fcp/pr...nd-Black-Haydock-Check-Men's-Bow-Tie/99912801

I'm deciding between white shirt and dark trousers, or white slacks and blue shirt... help please! As well as any specific links to shirts/trousers.

Please keep ridicule of my posting inexperience as slight as possible...

Out of those two options I would certainly would not wear white pants and a blue shirt. The other option would be fine, but maybe consider wearing a dark suit? Hit the your local Broothers Brothers and then the tailor, and you'd look great.

Good to see musicians on this site. Yeah I agree you can wear whatever the heck you want. I'd go for the white shirt and dark trousers though if you're wearing the bow tie. I can't figure out how the white slacks and blue shirt would look... but it doesn't seem so good. Maybe post pics?

This sounds boring... but probably what I would wear... although with no tie.

White shirt, black trousers. You're playing the cello, not the steel drums.

Are you performing solo or are you part of a group?

And what kind of music are you playing and what demographics are you playing to?

I think it's pretty obvious he's playing a solo cello recital.

Cello solo recital to a hall of around 1,500.

thanks for the advice! I just hit up the nordstrom sale and got a pair of dark blue Santorelli slacks, have an interesting micropatterned white Paul Stuart shirt to go with the TP bowtie that I also got today.

I'll post pics when I get home in a couple days. thanks again!
