Help me Decide a Harrington Color

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a quality Harrington Jacket. I have another Private White jacket and absolutely love it. Which one of these two colors on sale do you think are more versatile? Sand (which actually looks like tan) or Khaki (which is a dark brown)? I wear predominantly jeans in a social setting. But I might use the jacket for work trips, in which I might be in a grey or navy slacks. Or should I save up for a navy one instead (double the price currently)?

I prefer Sand, it would go with my Chinos and Desert boots. An interesting option for a Harrington, as Baracuta can be overpriced. This sales price from Private White is close to my Grenfell Harrington at full retail.

Yes, the price is quite good compared to their normal price. And the other jacket I own is superb quality. I would expect it to last a decade or more, so I'm really thinking about it. I've never tried on a Grenfell though. Not sure how they would compare.

Just out of curiosity, why?

I think both colors are nice, but the khaki strikes me as a little more unique and interesting. The beige one, while perfectly good, is very close to the millions of other options out there. The khaki seems just as versatile while not being mixed up with things from Ralph Lauren (a brand I love, but is more common).

I think Harringtons, as a style, are already a bit boring and borderline dadcore. Nothing wrong with that, as it can be a very classic piece in a wardrobe. But the cool, taupe-ish brown color seems a bit more interesting and stylish to me.

If, at some point, you want to wear this with chinos, it will also be easier to pair it with the darker color, as you don't have to worry about the two tan colors being close to each other. Most men don't own pants in that taupe, so that's not a worry.

Sand or Khaki for sure. The Navy on top of jeans, particularly if they're dark washed or selvedge, is too monochromatic for my taste. I bought a suede Baracuta from Stuart's last Spring in "tobacco" that absolutely rocks with dark jeans. I just have to check the weather before I go out in it. Looking to add a navy blue Grenfell to the herd this Spring.

Seedy? Duke Santos was a man who fought another kid over a pair of shoes because he wanted them more! Shady perhaps, but not seedy. Played by the great Cesar Romero. Cheers.

If I remember correctly, he was also trying to scam Jimmy Foster’s mom!

I don't think he was trying to scam her. He had all the money he needed. Doesn't she say to Jimmy that "he's the first man that doesn't love me for my money?" He was definitely trying to scam Frank and the boys for half the take though while working the back end to scam the casino owners as an insurance policy. The man had skills.......and style!

I like the Baracuta "Beech", olive color, but "Natural"· is a great option as well

Tobacco suede is very different from khaki cotton, though. It's funny, I think cotton is one of the worst materials for tan / khaki. Camel wool trousers and overcoats are often gorgeous. Tan suede is great, as you know, But khaki chinos are so aggressively bland, somehow more bland than gray chinos. Plus the negative associations -- retail workers, white guys, guys who gave up on trying to dress well and just bought the most "fine, I guess I'll just wear this instead of trying" thing they could find. A tan cotton harrington so often looks like a grandpa jacket.

When I wear my Harrington, Duffel, Chino' s, Submariner, and Desert boots etc. I don't feel bland. I feel nostalgia towards my military background and the 200 year military background of my family.
