Allright, so my mother has it in her head that she wants to get me a watch for my birthday at around the $200 price point. I don't really want one and would rather have several other things for 200 bucks, but this is more of a gift for her....for me, if that makes any sense. The only thing I've seen that I like is the Seiko scvs013, but it's no longer made. The Seiko 5s have stupid "5"s on the face that are dealbreakers.

Must have: polished aluminum/chrome case, white dial, roman numerals

Please help!!!

No way in hell you were getting the "Blue Spark" for $200 even when it was still in production.

Why is the "5" a dealbreaker? I love my Seiko, and from what I've heard it'll last quite a few years.

Thanks wetnose, that's number 1 on my list right now. That's what I'm looking for, something clean that can be dressed up or down.

Any more specific Tissot suggestions? The one linked has a little too much going on for me. I don't doubt the quality of seiko 5s, but the logo on the face is inelegant to my eyes (hence why I like the blue spark). Any more suggestions?

Look at a few more Seiko watches, particularly their more entry-level automatics. If you're alright with quartz (and for $200 you'll likely have to be) then Tissot is quite nice.

I'd prefer to get an automatic, as I've already got this bad mamajama.

$11 on amazon and rad as hell.

The Riki actually uses a Seiko automatic movement (forget the model, but it's in the review wetnose posted). I've looked at lot of the others and none are quite as elegant as the Riki.
