That's why I compared it to Banana Republic. Browsing through their outerwear selection it's like a 'who's who' of designer rip offs. Burberry trench, Shadow Project jacket, WWM Maine Guide, etc. etc. While I can see what you mean, I'd rather spend all I have at decent high end boutiques than get a cheap interpretation thereof.

^^ saw those boots w/vibram sole (and tried on) at Isetan Mens in Tokyo a couple months back. Pretty cool, but at $1000ish not just something you pick up on a whim

Yep, my gf bought me a pair of purple trickers x present last night for xmas. I've seen the most amazing cowl neck sweater by japanese designer RT, super want for £300+.

Eff the westend these days (few exceptions); all the good shops are mostly in east london in/around spitalfields/bricklane.

Present is one of my top nu fav stores as is:

oliver spencer (lamb's conduit);
albam (spitalfields & off carnaby);
hurwundeki - korean store full of retro and up&coming (commercial street across from albam & 34 marshall off carnaby);
The Menu (spitalfields);
Agnes b (marylebone & floral);
paul and joe (floral st);
trevor bolongaro (off carnaby);
folk (lamb's conduit & nu store at truman brewery, brick lane);
vivienne westwood (conduit st);
b store (savile row);
john rushton (wimpole);
lodgers (savile row);
libertys (gt marlborough st/regents);
COS (regents street, westfield shopping ctr);
oki-ni (savile row);
oscar milo (spitalfieds);
l'homme designer exchange (off marylebone on blandford);
the library (old brompton - carries noten, poehl, mcqueen);
the old curiosity shop (off lincoln's inn fields);
a couple of nu shops on dray walk as butcher have closed.

you must get to the sunday upmarket and spitalfields in general on a sunday - there you can find numerous stalls with dandy accessories.

Maybe it's across the road. There's a dedicated Harrods for food across from the main store. On the matter of indians, I've been to Lahore Kebab House several times - never at my own choice - as well as apparently highly regarded places around Brick Lane, and I don't really see the point of getting enthused about it. If you're going to make an occasion out of eating a cuisine style that was developed as a means to allow you to eat slightly off food, then you might as well make the location an occasion too. Veeraswamy's is still the only Indian restaurant here I'd actually invite someone else to go with, or recommend someone go.

Only tourists and drunken city workers and dull suburbanites venture to brick lane to eat curry- stay away from it unless you like rat dropping masala. Better abodes are found in Southall, Tooting, and dotted around sporadically. Krispy kreme is on the backend of harrods but you can also find them dotted around now, another example of infestation unfortunately.

You can buy Krispy Kreme in ******* Tesco.

For good Indian (well, Pakistani) in a centralish area hit Tayyabs in Whitechapel.

Do not go to the Cinnamon Club...

Fish & Chips always = Golden hind for me (though fish is better than chips).

Yeah, but you can buy them fresh off of the conveyor belt in Harrod's. There's nothing like a fresh fried Krispy Kreme.

Just got back to London, here for 2 weeks. Simple question:

Where are the best sales?
