Going to the beach next week, looking to make a mix cd for the drive. I'm doing mostly uptempo, summer classic stuff. Something along the lines of American Graffiti but with different songs. Here's what I've got so far:

Frankie Valli & 4 Seasons- Sherry
The McCoys- Hang on Sloopy
Ronettes- Be My Baby
Martha and the Vandellas- Heat Wave
Mamas and the Papas- California Dreamin
Jefferson Airplane- Somebody to Love
Beach Boys- The Warmth of the Sun, Surfer Girl

Suggestions appreciated.

Maybe a lil post-American Graffitti, but...

Ramones--Rockaway Beach
G'nR--Paradise City
Jens Lekman--Sweet Summer's Night on Hammer Hill
Loudon Wainwright III--The Swimming Song
The Kinks--Sunny Afternoon
Led Zeppelin--Traveling Riverside Blues
Sly and the Family Stone--Hot Fun in the Summertime

More beach boys, some grateful dead if you're a hippie, some reggae.

Enjoy the beach!

On the beach you need some Marley, Tosh, Isaacs and Mighty Sparrow.

I think some Marley is a must here. "Could This Be Love" would qualify as uptempo in the Marley catalogue.

Jimmy Buffet "Change in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" and "Come Monday"

Lovin' Spoonful "Summer in the City"

Eagles "Take it Easy"

Marvin Gaye " "Let's Get it On"

Al Green "Let's Stay Together"
