Help identifying fabric abbreviation of a Brioni suit - What is WD?

Hi all,

I recently got my hands on a Brioni suit that has a fabric composition of 95% WD and 5% SE. Obviously the SE is seta/silk, and the "W" part of the abbreviation leads me to believe it's possibly related to wool (like W5 is Super 150s wool, WV is virgin wool, etc) or something similar (like WG is Vicuña), but for the life of me I can't find anything on it anywhere.

I felt like someone here may have come across this before and could shed some light on it. It would be very appreciated. Thanks and best wishes!

Only thing I can find is “Wool Broken Diamond”, describing a particular patterned wool. Probably not what you’re looking for.

Yes unfortunately I don't think that would be it, but I thank you for trying. I'm trying to wrack my brain for what animal wool it could possibly be referring to, especially since it could be the Italian word for it. The ones I know are WG, WK, WM, WO, WP, WS, and WV (as well as the W3, W5, W7 numbers etc).

I've also found another thread on this from 2016 (https://www.styleforum.net/threads/fabric-abbreviation-wd-please-help.529110/), which is from another Brioni suit; this is obviously not a printing error as it's now present in multiple Brioni suits. They couldn't decipher it on that thread either.

The website of Progetto Due, an Italian factory store, gives the abbreviation WD as Wood; I know some of the newer fabrics have in their composition processed fibers of wood, bamboo etc, but I don't know details - or if this would be the case here.

I did see a mention of WD as wood but I don't think it's the case here, for one a composition of 95% wood fibre seems to be very unusual but also the feel of the suit is very soft and fine, almost silky or very high-quality wool. I don't have a wood fibre garment for comparison unfortunately though.

I've sent them an email and they claim to reply within 24 hours, so hopefully they'll be able to clear it up; I'll update here once I get an answer so future enquirers can locate it.
