Okay, so usually I'm not too fussed over what I wear and how I wear it, but recently I've become pretty frustrated when buying pants. I don't know what is going on but it seems every pair I buy I end up with an issue where the material will fold on the thigh while walking. Its like when I take a step, the material goes up and folds and it looks f***ing horrible. It also tends to make a v-shape in the groin and just does't look nice at all. This has happened with a couple of dress style pants I've bought for work, casual cargo pants, and now 2 pairs of jeans. I'm sure I'm not buying the wrong size pants, they are matched for my waist size and they're just your typical off the shelf pants bought from your average store. But i'm getting really self conscious about this cos it just doesn't look right at all.

So what the hells going on here? Is it my shape? How high/low the pants are on my waist, i've tried everything but no matter how I wear them I cant fix this. or am I just being paranoid? I see other people on the street and altho I make sure not to stare for TOO long, most people arent having this issue with folding. WTF is going on I'm at wits end, cheers!

Are the trousers flat-fronted? If so, you might try pleated dress trousers (although I'd avoid pleated jeans or khakis!).

It's hard to guess based on your description. Much as I'd prefer not to look at your crotch, how about posting a picture?

I have the same problem with FF dress pants.

I'm unable to take a picture as I don't have a digital camera sorry. as far as my physical description goes, I am fairly flat chested, however I have pretty large muscular thighs and looking directly down it looks like - when standing normal - my thighs are further outward than the rest of me, so when I take a step the area either side of the groin feels "hollow" in that theres some space there between the groin & the fabric, I dunno if thats normal or not but it might be a contributing factor.

And pleats are out of the question

I usually wear loose fitting pants, cargos and board shorts etc to try & negate it, but sometimes I do have to wear dress pants / khakis for work and so I try & pull them up higher than normal to try & lessen it, but its not fixing the problem. I thought this would be a fairly common problem for alot of body types but I havent found a single thing on this anywhere on the net after days of looking.

I think you answered your own question. Your quads are causing the pants to ride up. A good tailor might be able to suggest a solution, since you refuse to countenance pleats.

From your description, I think the rise of your trousers may be too short. I hope one of the tailors on the board will weigh in with something definitive, though.

FUnny. I was going to suggest that it was too long, thus allowing the legs to ride up as he walks.

Other than bespoke slacks, I concur with the pleated trouser idea. It would allow some extra room at the top of your quads.

You also might try going to a more expensive flat front cut. As that may happen to have a bit more volume in the upper leg for you.
