Hello - What shoes to wear with jeans/polo?

Hello,

This is my first post here at SF, but I've been reading a lot of threads here. Based on recommendations here, I recently bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Hinsdales to wear to my business casual office job, and wow they are great!!! They make all my former shoes (Bostonian, Nunn Bush, etc) look clunky, primative, and embarassing. Most of all, they are comfortable and look great day after day.

Now I would like to buy new shoes for my "casual" wardrobe. By casual, I mean darker jeans and a polo shirt. I typically wear shirts that have blues and grays, so I think a black pair of shoes would be the best as opposed to brown. Currently I wear tennis shoes which I don't think go with the outfit. I like to dress better than others at the office, but do not want to overdress either.

What would you guys recommend? I'm not sure what quality shoes in this segment cost, so feel free to recommend what you honestly think would be a worthwhile investment.

??? I'm not sure if you're trying to say that brown can't match blues and grays, or if you're just looking for a more homogenous look with nothing contrasting (which looks boring imo)

Black might be okay, but brown would be at least as good if not better. Personally I like to wear brown suede cap-toes with jeans, or brown country-grain penny loafers. Boots like a brown suede chukka or a brown or black chelsea would also be good if you're into that kinda thing.

I guess I am a bit of a noob. If brown works with that, they I'll open up those possibilities. Any other suggestions?

I would also suggest something in brown suede. Perhaps a wingtip? But a loafer would work also.

I think AE Strands in Walnut would look sharp as well. Just my opinion though.

Penny loafers, dirty bucs, wingtips, dark soled boat shoes... More or less anything made out of brown leather (excluding leather sneakers, of course).

But be careful with black. For the most part, black shoes don't play with chinos too well.

Ditto on the reccomendations for brown suede. Anything from loafers to chukkas to oxfords depending on how casual you want to go.
