Hi yall, just thought i would drop in and introduce myself.... I am completely ignorant about style and have reached a point in my life where i need to pay a bit more attention (retiring from military, now i get to choose clothes, and am a bit fearful). I am thinking of picking up my first suit this christmas, if the sales look good at Brooks Bros... (thinking just a standard 1818 Navy Madison, and a few shirts). I don't really need to build a wardrobe quickly, as I plan on finishing college the next two years, but figure a good interview suit will be needed anyway, might as well get it while I am still employed

I have worked with my hands most of my life, and have never had much need for nice clothes, as I am pretty rough on them, but do like to take momma out on occasion, and i do want my boy to grow up knowing what "nicely dressed" means...so i need to learn... Anyways, have browsed the site quite a bit, and learned a bit, will try to play nice and not ask too many dumb questions. Thanks for all the great input here!!

Are you in good shape? I'd consider the milano or fitzgerald cut. Madison is a bit old manish

Welcome to the forum!

While you're shopping for clothes, don't forget a pair of good shoes. Most men hugely underestimate the importance of shoes, even though shoes really are the foundation on which everything else builds. Happy hunting :) But first, happy reading and posting around here!

Cheers

+1 - The Fitz is a solid choice for your first decent interview suit. Regent can be a good fit as well. The great thing about Brooks Bros is that they have the tweener sizes (39, 41, 43, etc) which can be a bit tough to find, so you should be able to find something you like that fits.
