The rubber heel plate of my left shoe (Allen Edmonds Cornell with the Commando Half Sole) is just starting to peel off (where the lowest level of the stacked leather and the rubber meets).  Should I:

    1)  Try to get some glue in there and rebond it.  If so, what kind of glue would be best.

    2)  Put in some nails?  Presumably brass?

    3)  Send it back to AE (which sounds like a hassle for just a single reheel operation)

    4)  Take it to a local cobbler for the above?  I'm newly located in Alexandria, VA, so suggestions in this regard would also help.  However, I'm worried about it would affect any future recrafting.

Has anybody tried doing 1 or 2 themselves, and how did it work out?

Edit - I did do a search, couldn't find anything remotely similar. Feel free to point to a thread here or on AskAndy if you remember one.

Since you are pretty close, how about taking them to the A/E shop on 19th St.? Let them handle it.
