Some interesting points & thoughtful quotes. Thanks for posting. "I like the ritual, the liturgy of a well-crafted, emotional fashion show. I will never be jaded with this side of fashion. The catwalk is pure anthropology, something like an esoteric encrypted parade. It can totally be replaced but it will be missed." "High fashion started to offer access to luxury and creativity. In a way it was dangerously closing the gap with fast fashion, which was incredibly effective in mimicking the style and standards (stores, merchandising, ad campaigns) of high fashion. It is mathematical. More means less rarity and less quality. This leads to the visual chaos of not exactly knowing what is what, if you forget your contact lenses and can’t read the label."

Glad to see him doing an interview. I think he is very wise and think when and if he comes back into the fashion scene he will come back and do it right.

"Obviously, I know what I want and precisely how I want to do it. When the time is right, what’s the rush?" Hedi seems to have such strong and informed opinions on the future of fashion-- I suspect whatever it is he's (slowly) planning will be an evolution in the business model of fashion, not just clothes.

He's definitely on another level and playing field. But then what do you expect from the man who invented the faux-hawk?

I have a feeling when he does release something that he designs it won't be that big of a deal, at least at first because I don't think he would market it like many do by having big add's in GQ or release information months ahead of time. I think its going to come out quietly because he doesn't like attention like most designers.

I think you underestimate the cult of Hedi Slimane.

Pure anthropology? What do these words even mean?

Hedi is probably the most worshiped out of all the men's clothing designers. Whatever he does next, no matter how quietly, will be all over the fashion blogs and forums the moment any information comes out.

The study of humanity? Maybe he's making some sort of comparison between fashion and human culture as a snapshot in time. Maybe anthropologists of the future will examine lookbooks and fashion show footage the way we current look at pot shards, bone fragments, and ancient jewelry?

The man gives an incredible interview and I was surprised to see his favourite band is The Drums.

After I read the article I looked them up and now I love them. Just out of curiousity, why were you surprised?
