Before the door on significant modifications to G&G's RTW line was closed (well, narrowed at least), I managed to place the following order...
The shoe differs from its standard counterpart with the exclusion of the heel counter, toe medallion and modified (rounded) throat. I also requested a green lining.
Having previously reported on G&G's lower facings and shorter toe caps, I had wondered if these changes were limited to the new designs only. I was subsequently pleased to receive confirmation that the changes evident from my Warwick would be incorporated into the modified Hughes.
Here's a brief reminder of the Warwick's differing aesthetics compared to an older Hughes already in my collection:
So, lets compare the old Hughes to the new modified version...
The proportions look the same to me. This suggests my original suspicions that only the new range has lower facings and shorter caps are true. Perhaps it is only the Warwick that has these attributes?
Here is a comparison of the modified Hughes and a similarly modified EG Telford which also illustrate the aesthetics differences:
I definitely prefer the Warwick / EG proportions which are very similar as seen below in the Warwick & Gladstone comparison...
