The more I research it, the more I agree. Mid-calf is traditional.

+1, Good decision It is classic to have a breast pocket but I sometimes leave it off. Chest looks clean without the breast pocket and the fly front. I am making one now in mid brown/cream herringbone with a butterscotch velvet collar. Not traditional but looks good.
