Have you gotten useful ideas from the Sartorialist's blog?

Have you guys gotten ideas from reading the Sartorialist that you found useful for your own style of dress?

I'm not sure if I have been directly influenced in that I saw a look and set out to emulate that look. However, I think that I have been more subtly influenced by the blog in the way I use color combinations and accessories. For example, I never used to think much about scarves other than their function to keep warm. Now I wonder if I bought my colorful striped scarves because of all those scarf pics by the Sartorialist. It definately wasn't a conscious decision of "oh I saw that on the Sartorilist". I've also started picking up purple accessories (before the Pitti Uomo pics where he highlights purple accessories) and I wonder if it is the subtle suggestions of color that are in his pics.

Thoughts?

There was one shot of Olliver Gerona from Domenico Vacca where he is wearing brown pants, a sand coloured jacket and a light blue shirt that seemed perfectly balanced and is a look I have adopted into my own wardrobe.

I find his man/woman on the street photos tend to feature people a tad eccentric. He's celebrated some pretty bizarre and laughable looks.

That said, the stuff he did Europe gave me some ideas.

OK, but the brown socks with the grey sharkskinny suit? That could be in a textbook on why not to match your socks to your shoes.

Yes, for not only ideas, but also inspiration to take a chance and try some experiments of my own.

They are all good but this guy. He always looks like he is wearing everything way too small. In person he loks awful

I think his color combos are nice, very understated, but hard to see the fit at that angle and his postioning.

Agree. I remember being afraid that the buttons on his shirt would pop off and blind me. The jacket was even worse, so he didn't button it.
